Avalon Park Press's purpose is to be a facilitator for an author's dreams to become reality. We take risks, seeking to publish new writers and experimental creators. We invest time in the editorial and publishing process in order to convey the essence of the creator's message to the reader. Literature has the power to convey new and critical ideas, which elevate our experience as humans on this planet. Avalon Park Press aims to offer a top-tier, ethical book prize that will not just offer publication but also high quality design and step-by-step advising throughout the publishing and distribution process. 

We are looking for poetry that exists outside of time, poetry that nears truth, poetry that challenges status and power.

We are inspired by poets such as Walt Whitman, Mary Oliver, Sharon Olds, Langston Hughes, Rumi, and Allen Ginsberg. Thank you for sharing your art with us, we read it with pleasure. 

To be eligible for the prize, poets cannot have published or have under contract more than one full-length book of poetry in English. This includes publication on Amazon or if the book has an ISBN. Chapbooks of less than 48 pages and individual poems in magazines are acceptable.  

Submissions for the Escarpment Prize are open from February 1st, 2026 through April 1st, 2026. Winner will be notified in Fall 2026.

We are inspired by writers such as Toni Morrison, Kurt Vonnegut, Thomas Mann, Virginia Woolf, and Simone de Beauvoir. Thank you for sharing your art with us, we read it with pleasure. 

For the 2026 prize, we will accept online submissions of book length manuscripts starting January 23, 2026. The final due date is March 23, 2026. The prize winner will be announced early fall 2026.
